For those of you who may not know "My Way" was written by French Songwriters Claude Francosi and Jacques Revaux. The English Lyrics that Sinatra sings, were written 1967 by Canadian singer / songwriter Paul Anka. Anka heard the song called Comme d Habitude (as Usual), sung by Claude Francois while on vacation in the South of France, and liked it as a potential song. Paul Anka flew to Paris to meet with the song writers, where he obtained adaption, recording, and publishing rights for a mere $1 ...

Some time Anka was in Florida having lunch with Sinatra at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach where Sinatra was filing Tony Rome. The story goes Frank was hinging out with some Mobsters, when Anka proposed the song Sinatra. Sinatra told Anka, "I'm quitting the Business. I'm Sick of It. I'm getting the Hell Out."

Anka rewrote the song one night in New York. Anka recalls that he sat down with his IBM typewriter at 1 O'Clock in the morning. and said to himself, "If Frank were ,writing this song, what would he say?" Anka finished the song by 5 o'clock in the morning. He called up Frank who was at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Paul told Frank, "I've got something special for you."

Sinatra recorded My Way on December 20, 1968 at Western Recorders Studios in Los Angeles just a few hours before performing a concert at The Sands Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Frank Sinatra's daughter Tina says that even though My Way became Sinatra's signature song, he hated it, Tina said "He didn't like it. The song stuck and he couldn't get it off his shoe. He always thought the song was self-serving and self-indulgent."

Paul Aka says that his record producer was bad at Paul that he gave it to Sinatra, and didn't record it himself, but Anka said he could never sing it. It was for Frank. Sinatra's recording of My Way has sold 10s of Millions of copies over the year, and is not only a large part of Sinatra's History (like it or not), American history and part of 100s of millions of Americans and people all over the World who love the song and the memories it holds for them.

LADY is a TRAMP

After Howard Cosell's great introduction. the Wood Herman Band started playing, and Frank kicked off this monumental concert with Lady is a Tramp. Great selection Frank. The Lady is a Tramp is a great up-tempo song and Frank sand it superbly on this night, as he always did in the concerts I myself saw Sinatra perform this and all his great songs. The first time I saw Sinatra was at Carnegie Hall in New York. "Wow, was that mind blowing?" The man was the greatest singer of the 20th Century, and I was so fortunate to see him in concert 7 times, first at Carnegie, them Brendan Byrne Arena in NJ, at Madison Square Garden as this show, and two times at Radio City Music Hall, my favorite.

Frank Sinatra came out of retirement to play this concert, and boy his millions of fans (me included) could not have been happier. The Main Event was a huge success. Frank sounded great, the concert was broadcast live on the ABC Television Network, and I would be watching with my sister Barbara, and brother Jimmy that night. I still remember talking to my teacher Mr. Phil Toronto, lucky dog was going to the concert, and he was talking about it as we ate lunch in the school cafeteria (Becton Regional HS) that day. Yeah I was excited. Wish I was going, but I was so fortunate to go a few years. Yeah, we had a great time watching this great concert Live on TV, and felt almost like we were there. Thank You Mr. Sinatra. Thanks for this wonderful concert and all you did there after, and especially those that I myself went to see. The memories of going to see you live and in concert still burn strong to this very day, such warm happy memories going to see you flawless shows filled with love and affection. Thinking about them always makes me feel good, happy, and content, and so I shall thank you once again Mr. Sinatra, we love you, and see we still keep "you," your music, and your memory alive. We Love you Frank.

Sinatra: The Main Event was an ABC musical television special starring Frank Sinatrabroadcast on October 13, 1974. The special documents a concert given by Sinatra at Madison Square Garden in New York City, in which Sinatra is accompanied by the Woody Herman band, and introduced by Howard Cosell.

The concert that was broadcast, was the last of a series of six that Sinatra gave at Madison Square Garden in October 1974, the audio from the concerts had also been taped and the highlights would be released as The Main Event – Live. The saxophonist Jerry Doidgson who performed on the concerts felt that the televised performance wasn't as strong as the others as Sinatra's natural pacing of the concert was disrupted by the mechanisms of television production.

"All My Tomorrows" is a 1959 ballad with lyrics by Sammy Cahn and music by Jimmy Van Heusen .    The song was expressly written as a Frank Sinatra vehicle.  It was introduced in the film A Hole in the Head where Sinatra sings it in the opening credits.

Sinatra later featured "All My Tomorrows" on his 1961 album All the Way. Sinatra re-recorded it for his 1969 album MY WAY , in a new arrangement which Charles L. Granata considers to be superior to the original, and which AllMusic calls "lush and aching". Rolling Stone describes the song as "the poignant monologue of a man determined to turn his life around".

This is one of my all-time favorite of the many great albums by The Chairman of The Board, Mr. Francis Albert Sinatra. My good friend Jimmy Starace gave this to me for a Birthday present one year and I've loved this wonderful Sinatra Album ever since. The album comprises songs that were Frank Sinatra's best loved songs. His daughter Tina had the idea of producing album of songs that her father Frank Sinatra recorded that were his own personal favorites. Tina asked her father to pick these songs, and the album Everything Happens to Me was born. If you've never listed to the album and I'm sure you'll agree that this collection of Mr. Sinatra singing his favorite songs is a beautiful and poignant one.

This is one of the most interesting and successful Frank Sinatra collections out there. Everything Happens to Me avoids the obvious hits and collects a number of the finest ballads and torch songs that Sinatra cut while at Reprise Records during the '60s, '70s, and early '80s. It's a regal collection that concentrates on the darker side of Sinatra's art. Instead of celebrating a cross section of the Voice's career the way that so many compilations do, the album sounds like an elegy and has a strange cohesiveness considering that it's drawn up from material that stretches over a 20-year period. Sinatra had recorded the title track numerous times throughout his career, but the previously unreleased version included here (complete with new lyrics) is his darkest and most battle-scarred interpretation. Even considering its lighter moments ("The Second Time Around" and the lyrically downbeat but wondrously swinging "Summer Wind"), this is a stark collection that almost plays like an original concept album about confronting disappointment, loneliness, and ultimately, mortality. That's a lot to ask casual fans to embrace, but Everything Happens to Me ends up giving listeners who only know of the swinging Rat Packer more than a glimpse of the complexity and depth behind Frank Sinatra's art.
